We are seeking qualified and highly experienced SBCC Immunization Specialist that will support our team composition for the proposed grant application.


Job Description:

We are seeking a qualified and highly experienced SBCC Immunization Specialist to join our team. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated SBCC (Social and Behaviour Change Communication) Immunization Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating social and behaviour change communication strategies to promote immunization awareness and uptake across Nigeria. The successful candidate will work closely with healthcare professionals, community leaders, government agencies, and other stakeholders to design and execute campaigns that address barriers to immunization and improve vaccination rates.


Job Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Develop comprehensive SBCC strategies and campaigns to increase awareness and demand for immunization services, particularly targeting vulnerable and hard-to-reach populations.
  2. Collaborate with government agencies, NGOs, community-based organizations, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment of SBCC activities with national immunization policies and priorities.
  3. Conduct formative research, including qualitative and quantitative assessments, to identify barriers, drivers, and influencers of immunization behavior.
  4. Design evidence-based communication materials, including print, digital, audiovisual, and interpersonal tools, tailored to diverse audiences and cultural contexts.
  5. Train healthcare workers, community volunteers, and other frontline staff on effective communication techniques and messages related to immunization.
  6. Monitor and evaluate the impact of SBCC interventions on immunization uptake and coverage, using appropriate indicators and data collection methods.
  7. Provide technical assistance and support to government counterparts in planning, implementing, and evaluating SBCC activities within immunization programs.
  8. Stay abreast of emerging trends, best practices, and innovations in SBCC for immunization, and integrate lessons learned into program design and implementation.
  9. Represent the organization in relevant forums, conferences, and working groups related to immunization and SBCC
  10.  Prepare regular reports, briefings, and presentations on SBCC activities, achievements, challenges, and lessons learned for internal and external stakeholders.


Required Qualifications and Competencies

  1. Bachelor’s or master’s degree in public health, Communication, Social Sciences, or a related field
  2. At least 10 years of progressively responsible experience in designing, implementing, and evaluating SBCC interventions, preferably in the field of immunization or public health
  3. Strong understanding of behavior change theories, communication frameworks, and strategies for influencing health-related behaviors
  4. Experience working in Nigeria or other low-resource settings, with knowledge of local languages, cultures, and health systems
  5. Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, community leaders, and healthcare providers
  6. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas in a clear and compelling manner
  7. Proven analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to use data to inform decision-making and programmatic adjustments
  8. Flexibility, adaptability, and willingness to travel within Nigeria as needed


Preferred Qualifications

  1. Experience working on immunization or other public health programs funded by international donors, such as WHO, UNICEF, Gavi, or USAID
  2. Familiarity with digital and social media platforms for health promotion and community engagement
  3. Knowledge of monitoring and evaluation methodologies, including survey design, data collection, and analysis
  4. Experience managing SBCC budgets, contracts, and subawards
  5. Fluency in multiple Nigerian languages


Compensation

There will be no direct compensation for being added as a member of the proposed grant team.


Future engagement prospect

Upon successful funding acquisition, there exists the potential for a consulting role for team members. This extended engagement would entail continued collaboration on the implementation and oversight of the strategies developed, with specific terms and duration to be mutually agreed upon. This offers an opportunity for the SBCC Immunization Specialist to contribute further and provide ongoing expertise for the project's successful execution.
